To ensure your business trip in Switzerland or Europe is as comfortable as possible, you can reserve your seat before you travel. Reservations are compulsory for some countries and are automatically included in the fare.
Switzerland.
Reserve seats on Swiss trains via the SBB Mobile app. Seat reservations cost CHF 5 per seat. It is not possible to reserve seats on IC trains during off-peak hours (from 10pm until approx. 7am). Look for the letter “R” in the notes in the timetable for more detailed information.
You can reserve seats on Swiss trains using the SBB Mobile app. Trains with seats that can be reserved are marked with the letter “R” under the notes in the timetable.
With the SBB Mobile app:
Select your desired connection and click on ‘Purchase ticket’. You can find seat reservations under ‘Additional offers’.
Via Business Travel Service Center:
All other seat reservations, such as seats in the dining cars, for which the reservation surcharge will be credited back to you for what you consume.
Trains with obligatory seat reservations, such as the Bernina Express (marked with the relevant symbol in the timetable).
Group reservations from 6 people (a maximum of 5 seats can be reserved via the app).
You will receive the reservation documents by post within three working days.
Reserve up to five seats at a time via SBB Mobile. When making a reservation, you only need to provide the name of one passenger. All the seats are displayed together in the app. If you would like to reserve more than five seats, please contact the Business Travel Service Center.
Standard reservation:
In the SBB Mobile app: from 60 days until 1 day before departure.
Standard seat reservations are labelled as such on the train.
Express reservations:
An express reservation is a reservation which is made less than one calendar day before you are due to travel and the seat is not specifically labelled in the train. You can reserve a seat up until 5 minutes before the train departs.
Normal and express reservations are exactly the same price: CHF 5.

When reserving seats for train journeys to Europe, different prices and provisions apply according to the country in question. You can find more detailed information for some European countries below.
You can reserve your seats when you purchase your tickets here on sbb.ch/en/business. Seat reservations for day-time connections are not obligatory but recommended. Reservations are obligatory for night trains.
Seat reservations are obligatory on TGV services and these are included in the ticket price. You can buy tickets here at sbb.ch/en/business and conveniently print them out yourself.
Seat reservations are obligatory on EC Switzerland–Italy trains and high-speed trains within Italy. They are included in the price of the ticket. You can buy tickets here at sbb.ch/en/business and conveniently print them out yourself. Seat reservations for regional trains within Italy are not available.
