Tips and tricks.
To make it easier for you to find your way around our portal, we have put together a number of useful tips to support you in your day-to-day work as a travel manager.
SBB Businesstravel and SBB Businessmanager.
SBB Businessmanager is the administration tool for SBB business customers and gives you a complete overview of travel at your company. As the contract and invoice centre manager, you have access to SBB Businessmanager under sbb.ch/bm/enLink opens in new window..
To illustrate the variety of functions in Businessmanager, here are a few tips on managing travelcards: under ‘Travelcards’, you can keep track of Half Fare Travelcards and GA Travelcards purchased via the contract at any time and edit them there.
- Replacing a purchaser: the person who placed the orders during the previous year will receive notification regarding the automatic renewal. You have the option of sending the notifications to somebody else.
- Reassigning travelcards: if you would like to assign the service to a different invoice centre when renewing a travelcard, you can correct this up to one month before expiry. Select the travelcard in question and click on ‘Reassign travelcards’.
- Exporting: if you would like an overview of the GA Travelcards and Half Fare Travelcards, click on ‘Export’. You will then receive an Excel file.
To use SBB Businesstravel, employees register themselves. To do so, they need a personal SwissPass login.
The SwissPass login is your personal key to access public transport offers. Employees can use it for both private and business purposes. If you already have a SwissPass login as a private customer, you can also use it for business purposes. If an employee does not yet have a SwissPass login, they can create one themselves.

During registration, employees apply for booking authorisation for the Businesstravel contract or for an invoice centre. To do so, they need their Businesstravel contract number and the name of the invoice centre. As the person responsible for the contract in your company, you are responsible for making this information available to employees.
As soon as the employees have successfully registered, you will receive a confirmation e-mail. Afterwards, please log in to Businessmanager at sbb.ch/bmLink opens in new window. and activate the employees for booking under ‘Tasks’ (see also accordion 2).
Each time they purchase their tickets, employees then choose whether they want to buy the ticket for private use or business use.
Tip: In the webshop, the role of the user account is selected automatically at the start of the purchase process and, in the case of SBB Mobile, at the end of the purchase process.
There is a strict separation of personal and business data in the SwissPass login. Companies only have access to business information.

More info on registering employees with SBB Businesstravel
Employees cannot charge for bookings via their Businesstravel contract without your consent. You, as the person responsible for the contract, and your deputies, are responsible for deciding which employees receive booking authorisation.
Log in to Businessmanager using your SwissPass login. You can activate your employees for booking directly under the ‘Tasks’ section. The activation applies to both SBB.ch and the SBB Mobile app, business.sbb.ch/en/sbbmobile
You can find an overview of which employees are authorised to book under ‘Employees’ in Businessmanager. It is also easy to manage booking authorisations there.
We recommend that you delete employees who leave your company immediately.
- Blocking means: employees can no longer book until further notice, but you can reactivate them.
- Deleting means: the booking authorisation of employees is permanently removed.

In the statistics, you will find the invoice date in the column ‘AD’ and the corresponding invoice number in the column ‘AE’. You can find more information at Help with invoices | SBB Business Customers.
As an alternative to the statistics for the entire contract, you have the option of viewing the statistics for each invoice centre.
You can download your tax-compliant VAT form for each invoice centre yourself each quarter.

Tip: Thanks to the tax advantages it offers, financing public transport is an attractive prospect for both companies and employees.
Under certain criteria, you can declare your employees’ financed public transport travelcards as a business-related necessity in consultation with the competent tax authority. Value-added tax means eligibility for input tax reduction.

More info on the SwissPassWe recommend the following preventive measures to protect your SwissPass login:
- A verified mobile phone number is recommended for all SwissPass login users for security reasons. This is used to authorise changes such as e-mail address, mobile phone number, etc. in the account:
- Open swisspass.ch.
- Sign in with your SwissPass login.
- Navigate to ‘Settings’.
- Confirm the mobile phone number you have been using until now: enter a confirmation code to be sent to the old number.
or - Enter the new mobile number: enter the new mobile number after confirming the code.
- Verify the new mobile number: enter the verification code sent to the new number.
- We recommend that all customers activate the two-step login (2-FA):
- Open swisspass.ch.
- Sign in with your SwissPass login.
- Navigate to ‘Settings’ and open ‘Two-step login (2-FA)’
- As an alternative to 2-FA, sign in using a login code. This offers greater security than logging in with a password.
- If you do not want to change the login method permanently, select ‘Sign in with one-time code’ on the SwissPass login page after entering your e-mail address.
Tickets and travelcards for business travellers.
You or your employees can buy tickets for yourselves (or for other employees) conveniently at work via business.sbb.ch and present them on your laptop, tablet or smartphone. Of course, tickets can also be printed on paper at your place of work if there are no mobile devices available.
Please note that tickets are automatically issued in the name of the person making the order when logged in. In step 2 ‘Travel dates’, you can reassign the tickets to the name of the person travelling.
Tip: Do you order tickets for your employees and often need the same information?
You can save the details of your co-passengers in your profile. This means that the next time you order, you only need to enter the first two letters of the name in the corresponding field and the person’s full information will be displayed automatically.
To do so, log in to business.sbb.ch. After successfully logging in, click on your name in the top right-hand corner to go to your profile. There, you can enter the names, dates of birth and discount cards of your employees under ‘Co-passengers’.
More info on tickets and travelcards for business travellersBenefit from supersaver tickets which give you a discount of up to 50% on many Swiss train and public transport routes. Supersaver tickets are available on business.sbb.ch or via the SBB Mobile app.
More info on supersaver ticketsThe alternative: Saver Day Passes.
A Saver Day Pass can be worthwhile for longer journeys and, with a bit of luck, it can be even cheaper than a standard fare ticket. The earlier you buy, the lower the price. With the Saver Day Pass, you can travel throughout Switzerland for a day on all routes in the GA Travelcard area from as little as CHF 29 with a Half Fare Travelcard and from CHF 52 without a Half Fare Travelcard.
Please note that supersaver tickets can only be exchanged in exceptional cases for a fee of CHF 10. They cannot be refunded. A new ticket for exactly the same route at the standard fare or a new Saver Day Pass must be purchased before the supersaver ticket becomes valid for an exchange to be possible.
More info on Saver Day PassesTickets for international travel are available on SBB.ch and via the SBB Mobile app.
