Help with ticket refunds for business travel to Europe.
Would you like to have tickets for a business trip to Europe refunded or exchanged? Find out under which conditions a refund for tickets purchased on sbb.ch/business is possible and what steps you need to take.
Purchase on sbb.ch/en/business.
Refund of tickets for travel to the following countries / on the following trains:
Nightjet / EuroNight with sleeper/couchette car (all destinations).
Germany (only flexible fare or flexible fare Europe).
France (including London / Barcelona).
Belgium / Netherlands / Luxembourg (via Germany: only flexible fare Europe).
Italy.
Austria.
Hungary.
Slovenia.
Croatia.
Slovakia.
Denmark (only flexible fare Europe).
Czechia (only flexible fare Europe).
You can get a refund on tickets for these journeys yourself on sbb.ch/en/business up to one day before the first day of validity (provided the offer allows this).
To do so, log in to the sbb.ch/en/business website with the login you used when you made the purchase.
Click on the journey you would like to have refunded.
Click on the ‘Refund’ button to switch to the refund offer.
Please pay attention to any information texts that are displayed: e.g. in the grey info box and under ‘Information on booking’ at the top of the screen.
You can check the data again at this point. The refundable amount is shown under ‘Payment’.
Click on ‘Refund’ to initiate the refund. Please note that after this step, you cannot go back and the tickets/seats are irrevocably and definitively cancelled.
Exchange (or short-notice refund on day of departure).
Contact the Businesstravel Service Center on 0848 111 456 (Monday to Friday, from 8am to 5.30pm) up to one day before the first day of validity (or before the train departs, if the offer permits this). If you would like to call outside opening hours, please contact the SBB Contact Center on 0848 44 66 88 (CHF 0.08/min.).
Important information.
Some offers (e.g. saver price or saver price to Europe) can only be exchanged and not refunded.
Refunds or exchanges on the day of departure (before departure) are only possible for journeys to Italy or France. For journeys to all other countries, this is only available up to one day before the 1st day of validity. After this point, no exchanges or refunds are possible.
In many cases, tickets are only valid on the train you have booked. There are certain offers (mostly saver offers) that cannot be exchanged or refunded – not even in exceptional cases.
The conditions are set by the respective railway companies and cannot be changed by SBB.
Exchange tickets for France, Italy and Eurostar.
Alternatively, these tickets can sometimes also be exchanged directly at the local ticket counter or via the website of the foreign railway company. Please note that a refund or exchange with SBB will be very difficult or not possible after this has happened. Further exchanges can still be made via the foreign railway company.
International saver offers with no exchange/refund option.
International saver offers cannot be exchanged or refunded – even in exceptional situations such as illness or accident. These conditions are set by the respective railway companies and cannot be changed by SBB.
Please contact your travel or cancellation cost insurance to request that your costs be covered if you need to rebook or cancel the journey.

It is not possible to submit your refund or rebooking request in writing or using a form.
As tickets/seats must be released and refunded before the departure of the booked train, refunds for international journeys can only be made independently on sbb.ch/en/business (provided the requirements are met), by telephone via the Businesstravel Service Center or outside opening hours via the SBB Contact Center.
Any refund applications submitted for tickets for journeys in Switzerland in writing or using the refund form will be processed based on the time of handling rather than the time of receipt. If this time is after the departure of the train, there is no right to a refund. Please note that the time between receipt and handling can be several days.
